The Road She Rides for Education
The Road She Rides for Education
When Mimi wakes up early in the morning, around 4:00 or 5:00 a.m., she goes straight to the kitchen. She cooks food for breakfast and helps sweep the floor before the other members of the family wake up. Even though it is still dark outside, she already has many responsibilities to do.
At 5:30 a.m., Mimi takes a bath and prepares her things for school. After getting ready, she rides her motorcycle to school, which is far from their home. The road is rough, with many bumps, stones, and sometimes mud, especially when it rains.
“Kis-a danlog-danlog gid ang dalan, pero kayahon kay ga-eskwela,” Mimi says.
(Sometimes the road is very slippery, but I can manage because I am studying.)
The trip takes almost an hour, but Mimi does not complain. She continues her journey every day because she wants to finish her studies and help her family in the future. When she arrives at school, she may feel tired, but she is ready to learn.
Mimi’s early mornings and long rides show her determination and courage. For her, every sacrifice is worth it because it brings her closer to her dreams.
